The Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, His Excellency Nobuhito Hobo has paid his farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
During the call, which took place at the President's Office this morning, the President expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Hobo’s contribution to strengthen the friendly ties that exist between the Maldives and Japan.
The President and the Ambassador also discussed ways to enhance the long existing bilateral relations between the two countries. In this regard, President Yameen and Ambassador Hobo underscored the importance of opening a Japanese Embassy in the Maldives to further strengthen Maldives-Japan relations.
Mr. Hobo said that it was a great pleasure to serve the Maldives as Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, and reassured the President, of his Government’s commitment to continue supporting and assisting the Maldives.
The farewell call was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, and Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
