The Cabinet, in its meeting today, decided to consolidate government ICT resources for efficient delivery of services through e-government system. The Cabinet made this decision after discussing on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

The Members noted that consolidation of main ICT resources was required to strengthen the government ICT infrastructure in terms of better management, information security and cost effective use of all ICT resources. It was also noted that strengthening ICT infrastructure would help to set process and services inline with government mandates for rapid and efficient outcomes which applies for all government deliverables.

The Cabinet in its meeting also discussed measure to increase the use of renewable energy in the Maldives, and to reduce expenses on electricity.

The Members spoke on the need to formulate a procedure for production and sale of electricity. It was also decided that the Maldives Energy Authority would formulate guidelines for government offices to reduce expenditure on electricity.
