The new Ambassador of Vietnam to the Maldives, H.E. Phan Kieu Thu has presented her credentials to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, on Wednesday morning.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the credentials, President Yameen congratulated Ambassador Thu on the commencement of her term.
Meeting the new Ambassador afterwards, the President expressed his hopes of further strenghtening the long existing relations between the Maldives and Vietnam, during her tenure. President Yameen and the Ambassador also noted the importance of further enhancing these relations in areas of mutual interest.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vietnamese Ambassador said that it was an honour and priviledge to be appointed as the new Ambassador to the Maldives, and assured the President of her commitment to building on the existing diplomatic ties between the two countries. Ambassador Thu expressed her gratitude to the President and the Maldivian Government for its support to Vietnam in the international arena. She also discussed with President Yameen, areas in which Vietnam could provide assistance to the Maldives.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador-at-Large H.E. Abdulla Hameed.
