President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to Sri Lankan President, H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa, following the flash floods and mudslides in Sri Lanka.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“I was deeply saddened to learn about the devastating flash floods and mudslides in Sri Lanka, causing the loss of many innocent lives, the displacement of countless people, as well as irrevocable damage to the agricultural heartland of the North Central and Eastern provinces.”
“At this time of tragedy, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in sending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and people of Sri Lanka. I wish the recovery efforts every success and commend the tenacity of the Sri Lankan people in the face of such tragedy.”
“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families, and our solidarity with the residents of the hardest hit regions.”
