President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appealed the people to be patient, and have confidence in the Government in delivering its services. He made this appeal while speaking at the launching of the Hoarafushi Sewerage Project this afternoon.
In his speech, the President said that the Government’s services were not unique to a particular island, and that it was the Government’s duty to provide equal services in all the islands. He said that the Government’s aim was to take Maldives to a new level of development, by the end of its 5 year term.
Speaking to the people of Hoarafushi, the President highlighted the Government’s development projects planned for the island. In this regard, the President briefed the people on the measures being taken to improve the general living standards of the people, and the iHavan project- an integrated project designed for Ihavandhippolhu atoll, in Northern Maldives.
Further, President Yameen underscored the steps being taken by the Government to overcome the challenges being faced in the country’s health sector, and to improve the healthcare system. In this regard, the President especially noted the introduction of telemedicine and sea-ambulance services, in an effort to strengthen health services in the country.
