President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a congratulatory message to the President-elect of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Ashraf Ghani Ahmedzai, following his recent victory in the presidential elections.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Maldives and on my own behalf, I extend to you warm congratulations and good wishes on your election as the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.”
“I am confident that under your able leadership, the people of Afghanistan would achieve even greater success and prosperity.”
“I look forward to working with Your Excellency, and also within the sphere of SAARC, to further explore avenues of collaboration between our two countries for the development of our people and the South Asian region as a whole.”
“Please accept, Excellency, my sincere wishes for your good health and wellbeing and the assurances of my highest consideration.”
