President Mohamed Nasheed has extended the greetings to the people of the Maldives on the blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In his weekly radio address, that was broadcast this morning, the President also sent greetings and well wishes of Eid to all Maldivians living abroad.
The President said many sporting events and cultural activities were organised on the occasion. He expressed his confidence that all these activities would be held joyously in the spirit of Eid with everyone’s participation.
Noting that Eid was also an occasion to help people in need, the President said, in this Eid we should remember the plight of Pakistani flood victims and show our generosity for them.
Speaking in this regard, the President congratulated the participants of “Help Pakistan” telethon.
“Help Pakistan” is a twenty-four hour fundraising event jointly organised by local broadcasters, civil society, athletes, musicians, actors and catering industry to help the Pakistani flood victims.
The President also sent Eid greetings to the Leaders of the Islamic countries and to the Heads of Islamic Organisations. The President has also been receiving greetings from them.
