President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has attended the official opening of the Henveyru turf ground. At the ceremony held Monday evening, President Yameen stated that initiatives such as these, aimed primarily towards the youth, will aid in the progress and development of the nation.
In this regard, the President noted that ten additional futsal grounds are to be opened around the country, in this month alone. President Yameen emphasized that futsal grounds provide a strong foundation for the development of the Maldives National Football team. He also stated that it provides opportunities to bridge friendly relations between various groups in society, thereby, contributing to a more peaceful country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President also highlighted the efforts being undertaken by the Government to provide further employment opportunities for the Maldivian youth.
Before the conclusion of the ceremony, President Yameen handed over certificates of appreciation to all who were involved in the project.
The ceremony was also attended by First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism Hon. Adeeb Abdul Gafoor, Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Maleeh Jamaal, some members of the Parliament, and high level government officials.
