President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has met with the Maldivian contingent taking part in the Second Summer Youth Olympic Games 2014. This year’s Youth Olympics commenced on Saturday, in Nanjing, China.

At the meeting held on Sunday afternoon, the President highlighted the significance of Maldives taking part in international tournaments. He said that he was delighted to meet the athletes representing the Maldives, and extended his best wishes to all competitors.

Speaking at the meeting, head of the Maldivian contingent, Ahmed Latheef expressed his gratitude to the President for meeting the Maldivian athletes. He further assured the President that the Maldives’ team always tries its best to come through with flying colours, and make all Maldivians proud, in international tournaments.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mohamed Maleeh Jamal.
