President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the essential ingredients for the success of Maldives were; an easily trainable, highly educated, and dedicated workforce, along with a strong government, who was committed to improving the livelihood of the people through economics. The President made these remarks while speaking at the scholarship awarding ceremony of Trans Maldivian Airways’ Zuvana pilot training programme.

At the function held at Traders Hotel Tuesday evening, the President said that in a country as young as the Maldives, there was no life without providing for youth aspirations and dreams. Continuing in this regard, the President reiterated that the Maldives was a country, a population, and a Government determined to find salvation for the youth.

Highlighting the Government’s manifesto, President Yameen said that the Maldives was all about providing employment, empowering, and finding a settled life for the youth. In this regard, the President expressed his gratitude to TMA and Blackstone group, for their support to the Government’s endeavour in bringing prosperity to the Maldives, especially through the avenue of finding ways for the youth.

Underlining that there was more to the Maldives than its natural beauty, the President said that the Government was trying to diversify the country’s economy. In this regard, the President noted that the Government was trying to move into other areas of investments, in order to reduce the dependency on the tourism sector.

In his speech, the President underscored his pledge to improving the livelihood of the Maldivian people.

“Today we have a strong government. We have the support of the public. And we also have a strong support in the parliament. This team is dedicated to improve the economic livelihood of the people. So this team is going to stay. So whatever we do in terms of expanding our economy is there for the taking”, said the President.

Further, President Yameen reassured all foreign investors, of the Government’s continuous support and necessary assistance; and restated the Government’s commitment to providing Maldivian people a better living.
