President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, following the tragic crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, resulting in the loss of life of all ‎passengers and crew on board including 189 Dutch nationals.

The President’s message reads as follows:

“The Government and the people of the Maldives and I are deeply saddened to learn of the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, resulting in the loss of life of all passengers and crew on board including 189 Dutch nationals.”

“At this time of national grief and mourning, the Government and the people of the Maldives and I wish to extend our deep sympathy to Your Majesty, the Government and the people of Netherlands.”

“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”

President Yameen also sent a message of sympathy to Prime Minister of Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte.
