Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has today inagurated the Furqan mosque. The inauguration ceremony was held this afternoon, before the Asr prayer.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Jameel urged the Maldivian Islamic scholars to strive to uphold the Islamic identity of the country, by teaching the ease and simplicity of the religion in a manner comprehensible to the youth.

In his speech, the Vice President underscored the domestic and external challenges faced by the Maldivian society ‎in consolidating social and religious unity. ‎Continuing in this regard, the Vice President called on the Islamic scholars to position their efforts in the most beneficial way for the people.

Highlighting the auspicious nature of this blessed month of Ramadan, the Vice President called on the Maldivian people to observe Ramadan ‎with earnest piety and through the performance of righteous deeds.

The Vice President expressed his appreciation to President Yameen for the priority afforded to the project and for ensuring the smooth implementation of the project. He also thanked the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Minister of Housing, Contractors of the Project and the Male’ City Council for the outstanding support and cooperation received in undertaking the project.
