Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has today presented the “Green Leaf”Award to those who have delivered outstanding services to protecting and preserving the environment. The recipients of this year’s “Green Leaf”Award were Billabong High E.P.S International School, AA. Ukulhas Waste Management Centre, and Secure Bag Maldives Pvt Ltd.
Speaking at the Awarding Ceremony, the Vice President stated that the “Green Leaf”Award was representative of the significance and immense benefits of preserving the environment. He further noted that it is now widely accepted that protecting the environment is imperative for fostering sustainable development, and voiced that greater efforts should be undertaken to raise special attention to environmental issues among all Maldivians.
Vice President Jameel also called on all individuals to attach a higher priority to preserving the environment in their daily activities, and discouraged actions which are damaging to our natural habitat.
In his speech, the Vice President proudly highlighted the measures taken and sacrifices made by past administrations to encourage steps against climate change, on an international level.
