Following the establishment Maldives Inland Revenue Authority under the Tax Administration Act (Act no. 3/2010), the President has abolished the Department of Inland Revenue that operated under Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
The Tax Administration Act mandated a majority of functions undertaken by the department to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority.
Other functions, including formulating government’s taxation policy and the government’s other income generating activities that were mandated to the department will now be carried be out by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
