The Cabinet has today discussed the drafting of guidelines through which uninhabited islands will be leased for fisheries and agricultural purposes. Referring to a paper prepared by the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, members of the Cabinet emphasized the various obstacles currently present in the leasing of uninhabited islands, due to the lack of adequate guidelines. In this regard, members highlighted that the immediate drafting and implementation of such guidelines are necessary, in order to lease uninhabited islands for both economic and other purposes.
