Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has presented a ‎commemorative plaque to Mr. Mukhthar Naseer, on behalf of the ‎Government, in recognition of his outstanding services as a member of the ‎Maldives National Football Team. Mr. Mukhthar Naseer has played for the ‎Maldives National Football Team since 2007, and is particularly famous for ‎scoring the winning goal for the Maldives in the 2008 SAFF Championship.‎

At the award ceremony held today at the President’s Office, the Vice ‎President noted that the Government will remain appreciative of the ‎contributions of the Maldives National Football Team, and expressed his ‎hope that Mr. Naseer continues to serve the country’s sports sector.‎

Mr. Mukhthar Naseer expressed his gratitude to the Vice President and the ‎Government for recognizing the contributions of sportsmen in the Maldives. ‎He further stated that he will seek to nurture the development of young ‎football players in the country.‎

Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, Vice President ‎of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) Mr. Abdul Muhusin ‎Hameed, the Director of the Maldives National Team Mr. Ali Suzain, ‎Director of Atoll Football Mr. Ahmed Mujthaba, and Media Coordinator at ‎FAM Mr. Hussain Jawaaz were also present at the ceremony. ‎
