President Mohamed Nasheed has proposed to the People’s Majlis names for the membership of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.
The People’s Majlis last week, approved three members for the HRCM, out of eight names proposed by the President. Following their approval by the Majlis, the three were appointed to the Commission on 17 August.
Human Rights Commission Act states that the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives shall consist of five members.
Names proposed for the consideration of the People’s Majlis are as follows:
1. Mr Ahmed Abdul Kareem
2. Dr Aishath Ali Naaz
3. Dr Ali Shameem
4. Ms Mazeena Jameel
5. Mr Ibrahim Huzam
6. Mr Ali Ashraf
