President Mohamed Nasheed has today appointed the new Civil Service Commission approved by the People’s Majlis.

Members appointed to the Civil Service Commission today are Dr Mohamed Latheef, Mr Fahmee Hassan, Mr Ahmed Hassan Didi, Mr Abdulla Jihad and Ms Hadheeja Adam.

The swearing-in ceremony was held this morning at the President’s Office. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef.

Addressing the Commission members after the appointment, President Nasheed said government’s aim was to establish a modern, professional civil service in the Maldives.

The President stressed it was important to forge good relations between the government and the civil service for effective delivery of services.

He added that he was looking forward to having discussions with the new Civil Service Commission as soon as possible to strengthen those relations and resolving issues.
