Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Muhammad Sami Saeed has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, President Yameen noted that his administration was very ambitious in transforming the Maldives’ economy, and said that the only way to achieve the Government’s aspirations was through infrastructural development. In this regard, the President highlighted some of the mega projects planned for the future. The President briefed the ADB Executive Director on the areas the government accorded highest priority to, and reiterated the Government’s commitment to improving the country’s economy.
The Executive Director of ADB assured of the ADB’s continuous support and assistance to the Maldives. He said that ADB would represent the Government’s visions and aspirations on economic and infrastructural development. Mr. Muhammad Sami Saeed briefed the President on some projects currently undertaken by the ADB. He commended the Maldives on its developmental achievements. He said that he would put in every effort to strengthen the relationship between the Maldives and the organization, as the Maldives’ representative on the Board of Directors of the ADB.
