President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today established the National Bureau of Statistics, under the administration of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
Following the establishment of this institute, the National Centre for Information Technology and the National Archives, previously administered under the Ministry of Transport and Communication, will now be transferred under the jurisdiction of the National Bureau of Statistics.
Likewise, the Department of National Registration, administered under the Ministry of Home Affairs, will also come under the authority of the National Bureau of Statistics.
