The Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, Mr. Yoshitaka Shindo has paid a courtesy call on President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The meeting was held this afternoon at the hotel in which the Maldivian President is residing at during his official visit to Japan.
At the meeting, the President and Minister Shindo discussed ways to enhance the long existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
In this regard, President Yameen and Minister Shindo underscored the importance of opening a Japanese Embassy in the Maldives to further strengthen Japan-Maldives relations.
The President further assured Minister Shindo of his Government’s full support and cooperation in the opening of a Japanese Embassy in the Maldives.
At the meeting, President Yameen briefed Minister Shindo on key developmental projects of the Government.
