Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to continue to put forward the best efforts for Maldives. The Saudi Crown Prince made this remarks while meeting President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom today, as part of his current visit to the Maldives. The Saudi Crown Prince assured that Saudi Arabia would continue to take prime interest in the developmental aspects of the Maldives.
Highlighting the long existing, close relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Crown Prince noted the similar features shared by the economy of both countries, and noted that exchanged visits of businessmen between both countries would be mutually beneficial.
The President exchanged ideas with the Saudi Crown Prince on the areas where bilateral relations could be expanded. He expressed hopes that trade and commerce links would be strengthened between the two countries.
At the meeting, the President expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Government for the assistance and support provided in all areas of development of the Maldives. He especially thanked for the Saudi Government’s decision to provide 50 scholarships to Maldivian students. The President also noted the inclusion of Arabic language in the core curriculum of the schools of the Maldives.
The President further applauded the efforts being made by the Saudi Government to preserve peace in the Middle East.
The Saudi Crown Prince said that it was a high priority of Saudi King Abdulla Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to resolve the Middle East issues, and that it was the King who initiated interfaith dialogue within the society. He said that the prosperity of Muslims reflect on the whole Islamic community.
The President said that his Government assumed power at a very challenging time for the Maldives, and that his Government has embarked on a very ambitious journey to take the country to new heights.
Following the meeting, President Yameen hosted an official luncheon in honour of Crown Prince Al Saud, at the President’s Office.
