State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Nizar Bin Obaid Madani has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed.
At the meeting held this morning at the President’s Office, discussions were focused on the long existing, close bilateral relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. The Vice President and the Saudi State Minister also exchanged ideas on the projects underway, and those in plans, as part of consolidating ties between the two countries.
The Vice President highlighted the current state of the economy, and noted that the tourism sector was flourishing splendidly. He also briefed the Saudi State Minister on the areas of need for the current economy. The Vice President expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Government for their continuous support provided to strengthen the social sector, and for the urban development of the Maldives. The Vice President also welcomed Saudi entrepreneur to invest in the Maldives.
Further, the Vice President also stated that the Maldives always considered Saudi Arabia as the leader among all Muslim nations, and assured the Maldives’ continuous support in the international arena.
Speaking at the meeting, the Saudi State Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of introducing different types of tourism, in expanding the tourism industry. He exchanged views with the Vice President on the types of tourism that would be feasible in the Maldives.
