First Lady, Madam Fathimath Ibrahim has inaugurated the Early Intervention Centre of Imaaduddin School, as part of the nationwide programme being conducted by the National Institute of Education.

At the ceremony held this morning at Imaaduddin School, the First Lady highlighted the importance of providing the necessary assistance to children with special needs, at the earliest age. She also noted that the first step to early recognition of a child’s symptoms was to conduct awareness programmes for parents.

In her speech, Madam Fathimath Ibrahim urged all parents and guardians not to delay taking the necessary measures, when an abnormality is noticed in a child’s behavior. She said that one of the most important foundations for the development of a special needs child was to provide specialized care with trained teachers, so that their education would not be interrupted.

Concluding her remarks, the First Lady said that the inauguration of such a programme was an important step towards providing quality education and vocational training to special needs children.
