President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the youth hold the key to shaping the country’s destiny. The President made this remark at the launching ceremony of the Sports Arena Project, as part of the Government’s 100-day roadmap.
Emphasizing that youth empowerment was a key component of his electoral manifesto, the President expressed his satisfaction on launching the Sports Arenas Project, which was among the five main pledges in his youth manifesto. He added that an energetic youthful population is a prerequisite in transforming the country’s prevalent socioeconomic status.
Highlighting the importance of sports for the health and wellbeing of the youth, President Yameen noted that sports also brings the added benefit of keeping the youth away from a life of delinquency and crime.
In his remarks, the President briefed the audience on the key aspects of his youth agenda, which, along with economic transformation, was the foundation of his electoral manifesto.
The Sports Arena Project was officially launched by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, and Minister of State for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mohamed Ghassaan Maumoon.
