Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has called for greater engagement by the private sector for effective delivery of health care and to compensate for limited government resources. The Vice President made this statement while speaking at the function to launch the 100 day targets, for the implementation of Government manifesto, of the Ministry of Health and Gender. The function was held last evening at the National Art Gallery.
The Vice President noted the importance of providing affordable and quality health services to the people. Noting that equal access to quality health services was necessary to build a stable community, the Vice President said the Government has now undertaken this endeavour.
He also said that there were a number of challenges in the health sector and that the Government was committed to resolve those issues.
The Vice President also announced that the unlimited Health Insurance Service – Husnuvaa Aasandha – will be launched in January.
