In his message on the occasion of the country’s 45th Independence Day, Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said the most important purpose of maintaining national sovereignty was to give power to the people.
Emphasising the importance of defending the country’s independence, the Vice President said we must be vigilant against potential threats that we might face, both externally and internally.
Referring to the current political impasse, Dr Waheed highlighted the importance of dialogue to resolve the issue. He added that compromises have to be made to resolve political disputes.
The Vice President also called on all parties to put forward national interest.
