President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today inaugurated the road development project for Hanimaadhoo island of South Thiladhummathi atoll.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President said that today marked an important milestone for the island of Hanimaadhoo, as it was the first project of its kind for the island. He expressed hopes that the construction of the road begun today would be completed in the next 4 or 5 months. The President also pointed out that commuting would be made much easier for the locals, once the road was completed.
Highlighting the different developmental projects being carried out in the island, the President noted that the establishment of a modern sewerage system was currently underway. He also pointed out that island greenery programmes were just as important as urban development programmes.
