President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of sympathy to the President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, following the earthquake which hit south-west province of Balochistan.
The President’s message to the Pakistani President reads as follows.
“It was with great sadness that I learned about the devastating earthquake which hit south-west province of Balochistan, causing loss of many innocent lives, injury to hundreds of people, as well as irrevocable damage to property and infrastructure.”
“At this time of National tragedy, the Government and the people of Maldives join me in sending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of Pakistan. I wish the recovery efforts every success and commend the tenacity of the Pakistani people in the face of such tragedy.”
“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
