President Dr Mohamed Waheed has congratulated the National Football Team for their overwhelming victory in today’s match against Bhutan in the SAFF Championship. The National Team won today’s match by 8 - 2.
The President telephoned National Team Manager Ali Suzain after the match, and praised all the players for their performance in the match against Sri Lanka on Monday, and for their performance today. He congratulated the captain, players, coach and other officials of the national team on behalf of all Maldivians and on his own behalf. He especially noted that Captain Ali Ashfaq had scored a high number of goals in both matches.
Further, the President said that the Maldivian people were with the team, and encouraged all players to perform even better in the upcoming matches, and make the nation proud.
