President Waheed opens Sinamale Futsal Pitch, inaugurates Flat Cup Futsal Tournament

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this evening opened the Sinamale Futsal Pitch, and inaugurated the Flat Cup Futsal Tournament.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President said that it was the duty of government officials to provide youth, accessibility to sports and recreational facilities.

The President said that establishing such facilities for the youth was a necessity, and that it was not something done out of goodwill of a State institution, the President, or a Cabinet Minister.

Speaking in this regard, the President noted that the government was still unable to provide all recreational facilities required by the youth. He said that despite the low fiscal state of the country, the government always tries to provide such services as best as possible.

The Futsal pitch opened this evening was part of the Unity through Futsal programme started in 2012. The first futsal pitch under the programme was opened in Hulhumale last year.
