President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today met with the visiting team of doctors and Imaams from Palestine. The teams were sent as technical assistance from the Palestinian government. The meeting held at the President’s Office was also attended by the Ambassador of Palestine to the Maldives Dr Anwar Al-Aqha.
At the meeting, President Waheed expressed his gratitude to the Palestinian government, and especially President Mahmoud Abbas for the assistance extended to the Maldivian people.
Ambassador Al-Aqha conveyed Independence Day greetings on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas and on his own behalf. He assured that Palestine was always keen on maintaining good relations with the Maldives.
At a local press briefing that followed the meeting, the President said that the technical teams were sent to the Maldives as agreed by President Abbas during his recent visit to Palestine. The Palestinian Ambassador, Minister of Health Dr Ahmed Jamsheed Mohamed, and a doctor from the medical team also briefed the media.
