President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that there was more than a billion rufiyaa that is owed to the government, and that the government needs to reclaim it. The President made this remark while speaking at the discussion forum held today at the President’s Office, about the concerns noted by the Auditor General regarding the Audit Reports of different ministries.
In his speech, the President said that the money belongs to the people, and that it was everyone’s duty to return the money rightfully back to the people.
In his speech, the President noted that the new system presented with it a number of difficulties and problems. He underlined that a lot of work was needed in order to solve the issues, and that ways to implement the countermeasures must be found from within the current constitutional system.
Speaking in this regard, the President said that it was everyone’s duty to work in a way that was most beneficial for the citizens of the country, so that the operations of offices would improve in the future.
In his speech, the President noted the importance of monitoring at regular intervals, the progress of reform work in the ministries, offices and other institutions.
The meeting was attended by the cabinet ministers and financials heads of the ministries.
