President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of sympathy to President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, following the loss of life and widespread destruction caused by the heavy flooding in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
The President’s message to the Indian President reads as follows.
“I was deeply distressed to learn about the heavy flooding in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, causing loss of lives, extensive damage to homes and property and widespread destruction.”
“I would like to send my profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of India, especially those who were directly affected by the tragedy. I wish the recovery efforts every success and commend the tenacity of the Indian people in the face of such tragedy.”
