President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a congratulatory message to the President-elect of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Hassan Rouhani, following his election as the President.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, and on my own behalf, I have the honour to extend to Your Excellency, my sincere well wishes and congratulations on your election as the President of Iran.”
“Your victory in the election reflects the confidence that the people of Iran have in you as a leader. We are delighted that Iran is entering a new era under your leadership, both nationally and internationally, and I am certain that the people of Iran would achieve even greater success and prosperity under your able direction.”
“I remain confident that the existing brotherly relations between our two countries would be further strengthened and diversified in the years ahead.”
“Please accept, Excellency, my personal best wishes for your good health and well-being and for the peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Iran.”
