President Mohamed Nasheed has today sent a message of congratulations to the new Australian Prime Minister the Honourable Ms Julia Gillard.
The President’s message reads as follows:

I am confident that under your guidance, Australians will see greater prosperity and happiness, and Australia will be able to play a more prominent role in the challenging global issues, including climate change.
I especially hope that your administration will be fully committed to tackling climate change issues both domestically and globally. In this regard, I would like to express the preparedness of my government to extend its full commitment to working closely with you.
