Vice President Mohamed Waheed Deen has called on stakeholders to implement policies and regulations necessary for sustainable mobilisation of foreign assistance. The Vice President made this statement while speaking at the agreement signing ceremony of ‘Community based Wetland Management and Ecotourism Development in Addu City and Fuvahmulah’. The ceremony was held this morning at Trader’s Hotel.
In his speech, Vice President said sustainable profits would be achieved by creating an environment for sustainable economic growth.
Emphasising the importance of safeguarding our environment, Vice President Deen said that Maldivians have nothing to offer to the foreign investors and tourists except our environment. Continuing in this regard, he called on the people to unite in the efforts to protect the environment.
Vice President spoke of the need to set aside differences in working towards the development of the islands and atolls.
Vice President expressed appreciation for the exemplary efforts of the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the protection of the environment.
