President Waheed congratulates the newly appointed President of Bangladesh

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of congratulations to the new President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr Abdul Hamid.

The President's message reads as follows:

“It gives me great pleasure to extend warm congratulations and sincere well wishes on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives and those of my own to Your Excellency, on your election as the 20th President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.”

“This presents a new opportunity for Bangladesh to usher in a vibrant democracy based on values of freedom, mutual respect and concord and I hope that under Your Excellency’s guidance Bangladesh will continue to prosper.”

“While expressing my confidence that the long-standing relations that exist between our two countries will be further enhanced in the coming years, may I also convey my best wishes for your good health and well-being, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh.”
