President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine has invited President Dr Mohamed Waheed to be the Guest of Honour at the 4th Islamic Conference of Bait Al Maqdis.
Ambassador of Palestine accredited to the Maldives Dr Anwar Al-Agha called on President Waheed today, to personally hand over the letter of invitation.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, Ambassador Al-Agha said that the people of Palestine always considered the Maldives as a brotherly nation. He also said that Palestinian government continued to explore ways to further enhance relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for President Waheed’s efforts in maintaining Islamic culture in the Maldives. He further assured of Palestine’s continuous support to the Maldives’ government. He commended President Waheed’s efforts in strengthening bonds with all Arab countries.
President Waheed thanked President Abbas for the privilege, and wished progress and prosperity for Palestine.
The 4th Islamic Conference of Bait Al Maqdis is scheduled to be held in early June 2013.
