President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of sympathy to President Asif Ali Zardari of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, following the earthquake which hit the Iran-Pakistan border region on Tuesday.
The President Waheed’s message to the Pakistani President reads as follows:
“It was with great sadness that I heard of the devastating earthquake which hit Iran-Pakistan border region causing tragic loss of lives and grievous injury to many. The loss of thousands of homes and also the irrevocable damage to infrastructure all over the region is a cause of great distress.”
“The Government and people of the Maldives join me in conveying our deepest sympathy to you, the Government and the people of Pakistan, and in particular, to those who were directly affected by this tragedy. We would also like to send our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
