President Mohamed Nasheed transferred the functions of National Art Gallery, which was under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, to the National Center for the Arts under the Ministry.
It was also announced that the National Art Gallery will not be a separate administrative office, but rather an office managed by the National Center for the Arts.
The purpose of the change is to eliminate the duplication of work by the National Art Gallery and the National Center for the Arts, and consequently reduce the cost of managing the Art Gallery.
