President Mohamed Nasheed has said Majeediyya School has never resisted change and always welcomed new ideas and methods. He made the observation, speaking at the function to mark the 83rd anniversary of Majeediyya School.

He said Majeediyya School has always being quick to adopt best teaching and management practices. Speaking in this regard, the President noted Majeediyya School was the first school to embrace the digital technology.

At the ceremony held at Majeediyya School this morning, President Nasheed today launched “Majeediyya Goes Digital” programme. As part of the programme, the school has installed digital teaching technologies in all its classrooms. This programme also includes a digital notice board, a digital countdown board, and a communication system between the school, parents and students via short message service.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President said success or the failure of any institution or organisation depends on the effectiveness of its top management. The President commended the role of the principal, teachers and staff in the success of the school.

Furthermore, he observed that the management of the school has strengthened since the school board was installed and they began to make decisions independently.

President Nasheed also revealed that the government would work to accommodate students from grades 1 to 10 in the school.

On his arrival at Majeediyya School for its 83rd anniversary celebrations, the President was given a warm welcome to the school. The President’s arrival was announced by the school brass band with an arrival call, and he inspected a guard of honour of the school cadets.

At the ceremony, the President gave away the tokens of appreciation from the school to those who have rendered valuable services to the school.

After the ceremony, the President taught a math lesson to a grade 10 class using the digital blackboard installed in one of the classrooms.
