According to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the government's human rights policy does not allow for discrimination when it comes to providing essential services to the Maldivian people. He made these remarks in his written address to commemorate this year’s International Human Rights Day, celebrated on December 10.
The President detailed the efforts put in by the government to guarantee that all Maldivians have equal access to these services without discrimination, such as service establishment projects being carried out across the country without disruption.
The President stated that the value of upholding human equality and respect is underscored by the United Nations' selection of this year's Human Rights Day theme - "Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All." He added that communication between individuals must be centered around respect, love, and justice if a society is to remain independent, and uphold its values of justice, peace, and harmony.
The President also emphasized the significance of eliminating factors that restrict human rights in the community. In this regard, he asserted that everyone in society must join hands against domestic violence, the exploitation of women and children, and other societal ills. He also highlighted the importance of fostering affection in society.
