President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged to give special attention to instil the true Islamic faith in the hearts of children and stated that raising children with Islamic principles is the key to raising a good generation. He made these remarks in his address to the nation on the anniversary of the day the Maldives embraced Islam.

The President noted that the Maldivian nationality is built on the Islamic faith and that every Maldivian must work to preserve the bounties of our faith. In this regard, he shed light on the most significant issues Maldivians face today in terms of disseminating views that are not related to the Islamic faith while claiming that it is. As a result, the President says that few people, unfortunately, believe these conflicting views, inflicting damage to people's properties and lives and inciting violent attacks. The President stressed that it is critical for teachers and parents to educate children with genuine Islamic values and principles to avoid the spread of incorrect beliefs in the name of Islam.

The President concluded his speech by advising people to follow in the footsteps of our Prophet Mohamed PBUH by protecting people's lives and belongings, respecting each other, eliminating envy, and forgiving people.

The Maldives commemorates the day the nation embraced Islam on the 2nd of Rabiʽ al-Akhir every year on the Islamic Calendar.
