The President’s Office has held a workshop on Crises and Major Incident Communications, in collaboration with the British High Commission, the Metropolitan Police and Counter Terrorism Policing, UK.
The training was delivered by the Directorate of Media and Communications for the Metropolitan Police, which focuses on developing communications response to major incidents and crises. The training was opened by the UK Defence Advisor to the Maldives Col. David Ashman on behalf of the British High Commission.
Delivering his opening remarks, Ibrahim Hood, Chief Communications Strategist at the President’s Office, expressed his gratitude towards the British Government. He highlighted the prominent roles undertaken by the British High Commission, the Metropolitan Police and Counter Terrorism Policing, UK, in providing assistance and support towards enhancing crises and major incident communications in the Maldives.
The workshop examined how the Metropolitan Police have developed communications responses to major incidents and crises over the past decade. It also provided insight into how communication strategies have evolved over the past years and detailed the role of social media to effectively communicate transparently with large audiences.
The workshop, carried out virtually, was attended by representatives from various key agencies.
