Vice President Faisal Naseem has held discussions with senior officials and representatives of Regional Hospitals, Atoll Hospitals and other relevant institutions regarding service continuity despite the challenges faced as the country battles the spread of COVID-19.

During the online discussion held today, the Vice President clarified the difficulties being faced at Hospitals and the procedures in place to provide uninterrupted services to; patients presenting symptoms of other illnesses; patients with prolonged illnesses; and patients suffering from hereditary conditions. Furthermore, he clarified the procedure of providing necessary aid to those in need due to various challenges faced by the pandemic.

Heads of Regional Hospitals and Atolls Hospitals elaborated on the obstacles and correspondingmeasures taken against COVID-19 and underscored the difficulties faced to procure necessary medication and medical consumables.

Vice President Faisal Naseem also highlighted the importance of providing these services continuously regardless of the stringent measures being taken at Health Centres and Hospitals and thanked the participants for their collective effort to provide the best services and assistance to those in need. The Vice President also highlighted the importance of streamlining awareness messages to the elderly population and other vulnerable groups and stressed on the importance of assuring the necessary arrangements and services for pregnant women and patients needing dialysis treatment.

The Vice President also affirmed that the Administration would work with STO and other relevant stakeholders to address the concerns raised by the Hospital Managers.

The discussions were joined by the Minister of Health, Abdulla Ameen, Senior Officials at Aasandha Company Private Limited and National Thalassemia centre, who gave precise instructions to the health care representatives. The participants also detailed the actions taken to ease the obstacles faced by the health care sector during these trying times.
