In his address on the occasion of this year’s World No Tobacco Day, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called upon the citizen to quit smoking to in order to become a tobacco free “Jazeera Raajje”

In the address published today, the President expressed that today is a remarkable day to implement this administration’s pledge to discourage the use of tobacco in any form. As from today onwards the “policy on graphic health warning labeling on tobacco products” will be effective. As a result selling of single cigarettes will be banned and without labeling, warning sign exporting and selling will also be banned after some time.

Therefore obeying this policy and would help everyone to achieve a healthy and happy style says the President in his address.

In his address, the President called upon all the policy implementation bodies to uphold policies that are made to the wellbeing of the citizen. He also called upon every stakeholder across multiple sectors to engage in the fight for tobacco control.

Highlighting this year's World No Tobacco Day campaign slogan “tobacco and lung health” the president noted the purpose of celebrating today is to spreading knowledge among a large section of the general public, stakeholders in every sector and particularly among smokers, on the implication for the health of people from tobacco smoking.

In his address, the President acknowledged and praised the work of individuals who work towards discouraging people from tobacco consumption and sends greetings of the day.
