President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, His Majesty Almu'tasimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, following the tragic crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, which resulted in the loss of life of all passengers and crew on board.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It was with deep shock and distress that I received the news of the disastrous crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, resulting in the loss of life of all passengers and crew on board, including 44 Malaysians.”
“On this sad occasion, the Government and people of the Maldives and I wish to extend our deep sympathy to Your Majesty and the Government and people of Malaysia.”
“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
President Yameen also sent a message of sympathy to Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.
