The President returned to Male’ this evening after concluding his state visit to Sri Lanka.

Upon his arrival at Male’ International Airport, the President met with the local media.
Speaking with the media, the President said that his visit to Sri Lanka had been very successful. He also said that during the visit he met with some senior officials of Sri Lankan government, diplomatic representatives in Sri Lanka and some entrepreneurs of Sri Lanka and noted that the main objective of this visit was to make them aware of the investment opportunities in the Maldives. He further expressed his satisfaction on the outcome of this visit.

The President then took questions from reporters regarding his State Visit to Sri Lanka.
In his state visit to Sri Lanka, President Nasheed met with the President of Sri Lanka, Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa, and held official talks between the two countries. He also met with Prime Minister, Mr Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, Mr Rohitha Bogollagama, Minister of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage, Mr Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, and the Director General of Sri Lanka’s Central Cultural Fund, Mr Sudarshan Seneviratne.

During his visit President Nasheed and Madam Laila Ali also met with the Maldivian community residing in Sri Lanka.
