President Mohamed Nasheed has received Coral Cultivation Initiative Award presented by Huvafen Fushi Maldives. The President was presented this award in recognition of his active participation in cultivating coral in the resort’s nursery as well as for his efforts in creating greater awareness on the impact of climate change in the Maldives.
The coral nursery of Huvafen fushi was started in August 2007 with the aim to help conserve and enhance the reef that surrounds the resort.
In line with the global campaign to create environmentally aware individuals, Huvafen fushi, together with Marine Environmental Scientists, is taking steps to protect and preserve its local marine environment.
